01/08/2022 Crump-517. There is a discrepancy every bit to the burial location of Captain Robert Hill. His burying has been memorialized at Find A Grave to exist at the Voss Family Cemetery at Flat Stone, Stokes Co NC. The publication Abstract of Graves of Revolutionary Patriots. Dallas, TX, USA: Pioneer Heritage Press, 1987, past Patricia Law Hatcher (Ancestry.com online) states that he is buried at Shorehill Farm in the Rosebud Community, Stokes Co NC. This place is 2 miles West/Northwest of Walnut Cove, Stoke Co NC which is in the general area of where Robert Loma lived. The town of Flat Rock in Stokes Co NC is about 23 miles from the area of where Robert Hill lived. And so . . . where is he actually buried ???

He enlisted in the Revolutionary Regular army in 1776 and served equally a individual under Col. Alexander Martin. In January 1781 he was commissioned as Helm under Major Joseph Winston and later the state of war, he always carried the championship of Captain Hill.

JFYI//William Hill Sr. died in 1787 in Surry County, N.C. The Hills moved from Caroline County Virginia to near Bowling Light-green in Surry County North.C. old in the 1770's. He was a fellow member of the Provincial Congress, which was held at Hillsboro (Due north.C.) on 20th Baronial 1775.

William Hill Senior's Will dated 1777 was proved in Surry County, N.C. in 1787 and he left considerable holding to be divided among his 10 children.

i. Captain Robert Hill, son of William Hill Sr. & Susannah (Smither) Colina was born in February of 1752 in Caroline Co., Va. (Ref: his declaration) and died on 2nd August 1832-34 in Stokes County, NC. He died from injuries received when a tree brutal on him (Ref: Am. Genealogical Society Book "The Hill Family").
He was married to Martha Halbert, who died on 20th September 1833.
They were married in September of 1769. (Martha'south sis, Elizabeth, married Rev. Wm. Colina Jr, older brother of Robert Hill)
Robert volunteered early on in the Revolutionary War from Surry County, N.C. and served as private under Captain Richard Goode and Col Alexander Martin in the Scotch Expedition for ane calendar month.
After his return in July of 1776, he again volunteered nether Captain Goode for 5 months.
In 1780 he served as a Lieutenant under Captain Maredy or Meredith for 5 months.
In July of 1780, a tree cruel on him, crippling him but apparently not enough to prevent him from standing to serve.
From Jan 1781 he served every bit Helm under Major Joseph Winton.
After the Boxing of Guilford Courtroom House, he served as Helm under Col Robert Smith (Alimony Dept-Launder. D.C.). Later the war he was called Major Hill. He settled in Surry County NC afterwards divided into Stokes County N.C.

Joel Hill, son of Robert Hill & Martha Holbert (Halbert) was born on 4th July 1780 and died 12th September 1856. Married in 1813 to Mildred Golding (b. 29th December 1774).

Lauriston Hardin Hill, son of Joel, married Minerva Rierson in 1862. They were the parents of J.Grand. Hill, a rural alphabetic character carrier of Germantown, N.C. and Miss Anna Hill also of Germantown.

Daughters of the American Revolution Records state that he was born 17 Feb 1752 in Caroline Co VA and died 02 August 1835. The birth and death information is what is stated on his Revolutionary State of war Survivors Pension 7021. Crump-517 is a DAR fellow member who is recognized under this patriot.

The dates on his FAG Memorial #32455381 which contradict his Rev War Pension information DOES Not SHOW A HEADSTONE Photograph so their incorrect dates cannot be verified.
